Chapters to host Independent Bookstore Day celebration
Chapters will join more than 1,000 bookstores across the country to celebrate the 10th annual Independent Bookstore Day on April 29.
Independent Bookstore Day is a one-day national party that takes place at indie bookstores across the country on the last Saturday in April. Every store celebration is unique and independent. Chapters & The Wine Cellar at Chapters will celebrate with book deals, food and wine tastings, an awesome book display and photo backdrop, discounts on select merchandise, bookstore bingo, a giveaway, and more.

“Independent Bookstore Day is one of our favorite days of the year,” said owner Sharon Ritchie. “We not only get to celebrate our love for books but also show appreciation to our booksellers and customers with fun activities. Independent Bookstore Day is a true community celebration.”
Independent Bookstore Day is organized by the American Booksellers Association, a national not-for-profit trade organization that works with booksellers and industry partners to ensure the success and profitability of independently owned book retailers, and to assist in expanding the book community. Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) was established in 2013 to promote, celebrate, and highlight the value of the independent bookstore community. The day has been observed on the last Saturday of April every year since 2013.
Chapters, located at 101 E. Grayson St. in downtown Galax, is the area’s only independent bookstore. It’s also a boutique and wine shop, offering a unique selection of clothing, jewelry, wine and beer, specialty foods, and adult and children’s gifts. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. The store is closed Sundays.
