Storytime Ballet presents Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Chapters Bookshop will celebrate Independent Bookstore Day and kick-off Children’s Book Week activities with a spectacularly sweet Storytime Ballet, which partners books and dance for a unique, fun, and free children’s event

In celebration of Independent Bookstore Day and to kick-off Children’s Book Week, Chapters Bookshop and The Conservatory of Dance & Theatre in downtown Galax will host Storytime Ballet featuring “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” beginning 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at Chapters Bookshop, located at 101 E. Grayson St. The event is free and appropriate for all ages.

Created for Chapters Bookshop’s young patrons, Storytime Ballet presents a popular children’s story or literary theme featuring dancers from The Conservatory’s Galax Youth Ballet.

Storytime Ballet gives attendees a sneak peak of upcoming ballet performances, interpretations and dramatizations of classic children’s literature, and interactive presentations and performances–all for free at the area’s only independent bookstore.

Storytime Ballet presents “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” is a 45-minute program. Dancers, dressed in full costume, will give a performance reading of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” meet and greet attendees, and lead children in a “mini” ballet class. A light snack and take-home activity are provided. Attendees can enter a drawing for our WONKA! prize pack, which includes two golden tickets to the Saturday ballet performance, a copy of Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” and a box of six truffles from Nancy’s Candy.

The Conservatory will perform WONKA! The Ballet at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 2 , and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at Galax High School.
