Chapters Bookshop - The 1904 building which is now home to Chapters Bookshop has previously served as a department store, a ladies’ clothing shop, and a consignment shop. Renovations were completed on the historic building in 2006. The building boasts original hardwood floors and tin ceilings, with plenty of room to house our ever-growing selection of books, decor, and gift items. We carry Willow Tree angels, Mama Says figurines, and other collectibles, as well as whimsical children’s lines such as Melissa and Doug wooden puzzles and toys. Chapters Bookshop has hundreds of new and used books, and we place special orders for those harder-to-find titles upon request. Sharon Ritchie - The Knoxville native, who has called Galax home for the past 25 years, first fell in love with books after reading Charlotte’s Web as a child. That love grew and grew and grew… into a bookstore! Now, she gets to spend lots of time with books; talking about them with customers and authors, selecting titles to line the store shelves, and occasionally, actually getting to read one! Southern fiction is a particular favorite, however, she would never limit herself to just one genre.
